This kart’s been in our family since the mid 1960’s. The original owner, a family friend raced it with a West Bend 820 on alcohol and we were told it ran over 70 mph. As kids, our dad taught us how to overhaul a 2 hp cast iron Briggs and we put that was our first kart motor. Later we figured out how to remove the governor, that was good for about 35 mph. i had a A-Bone race frame when i was a kid . my rear was just like described as your original but my front had a small bumper bar i don’t know if that was original or not. it was powered by a 5hp briggs with live axle set-up later swaped left conversion rim to single traction axle.
it was fun while i had it then got older and moved on to cars..

so that way you can more easily put a live 2wd axle on it. if it were on the left it would be a simple single wheel drive and that equals less traction and also less fun

why did you put the engine on the wrong side ^o) the right

Looks like the boys may not need the pedals extentions any more, is it spinning the back inside tire? You might add some weight on the left side for traction, its good to see Mat working in the shop with Dad I’ll bet you guys had fun.
